Recipes - Baking - Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
Cake
750ml (3 cups) cake flour
20ml (4 tsp) baking powder
500ml (2 cups) sugar
5ml (1 tsp) bicarbonate of soda
80ml ( 1/3 cup) cocoa
1 pinch salt
500ml (2 cups) boiling water
250ml (1 cup) oil
10ml (2 tsp) vanilla essence
50ml (1/5 cup) white vinegar
Icing
Melt ¼ block margarine in a pot, remove from heat, add 2 T cocoa,
add 2/3 of a 500g packet of icing sugar firm. Add +/- 1/3 or less of 1 cup of milk.
Pour over the cool cake.
Method:
Preheat oven to 180C, Spray oven pan with non-stick spray. Sift all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Mix all the wet ingredients in a jug and pour liquid evenly over the dry ingredients,
whisking together using a fork.Spread mixture in the pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
Allow to cool in the pan and pour icing over.
